Our Trivia Creation Methodology

At RandomTrivia.co, our mission is simple: to create trivia content that’s accurate, accessible, and enjoyable for everyone.

This methodology outlines the steps we take to ensure our questions meet the highest editorial and factual standards.

1. Topic Selection

We choose topics based on:

  • User interest: Popular search trends, feedback, and quiz night demand
  • Seasonal relevance: Holiday themes, historical anniversaries, and current events
  • Educational value: Subjects that align with school curricula or skill development

2. Research & Source Verification

Each trivia set is built on reputable, authoritative sources such as:

  • Academic and peer-reviewed publications
  • Credible news outlets
  • Established reference works (e.g., Encyclopaedia Britannica)
  • Verified statistical databases

We cross-check facts across multiple sources before finalizing each question.

3. Question Design

Our questions are crafted to be:

  • Clear: No ambiguous wording or trick phrasing
  • Accurate: Factually correct and up-to-date
  • Balanced: A mix of easy, medium, and challenging questions
  • Engaging: Fun wording, interesting facts, and varied formats (multiple choice, true/false, open-ended)

4. Fact-Checking & Review

Before publication:

  • Content is reviewed by the author (Ellie) and, where applicable, a subject-matter reviewer for specialist topics (e.g., science or history sets).
  • All answers are verified against current, reliable sources.
  • Outdated or disputed facts are updated or removed.

5. Accessibility & Presentation

  • Mobile-friendly layouts with clear headings and spacing
  • Table of Contents for quick navigation
  • No intrusive ads that break up questions and answers
  • Alt text for images to ensure accessibility for all users

6. Updates & Corrections

  • Trivia sets are reviewed at least annually or sooner if new information becomes available.
  • Update dates are displayed on each page.
  • If a factual error is found, we correct it promptly and note the change.

7. Reader Engagement

We encourage reader input:

  • Comments and corrections can be submitted via our Contact Page
  • Feedback helps us refine our sets and add new topics
  • We often incorporate reader-suggested themes into future content
